11 Beauty Lessons We Learned From Megan Fox
1. Glamorous lashes are enough to make a look.
Whether Fox goes for a heavy coat of mascara or piles of false lashes, she lets her eyes do the talking. The actress balances long, curled eyelashes with soft makeup for an approachable twist on red-carpet glamour. We like Giorgio Armani Beauty Eyes to Kill Mascara.
2. There is more than one shade of red.
A girl can never have too many little black dresses, or too many shades of red lipstick, two axioms which Fox has down pat. Her lipstick changes with her look: orange-reds with fresh, dewy makeup and deep wine-reds with smoky eyes, polished skin, and her signature sultry pout. The best orange is M.A.C. Lipstick in Morange; dark shade, Dior Addict Lipcolor in Decadent Plum; and true red, Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Absolute Rouge.
3. Hair doesn't need to be complicated to be pretty.
From a coffee run to the red carpet, Fox's hair never looks over-done. She works beachy waves with a couture gown, or a sleek ponytail for a movie premiere. The fuss-free approach is part of her appeal.
4. Glossy, rosy lips are the most luscious.
Sure, the actress has covetable lips from the get-go, but a few swipes of glassy rose gloss make them look even fuller. Our favorites are Almay Pure Blends Lip Gloss in Fig and Lorac Couture Shine in Couture.
5. If you're going retro, don't go all the way.
Fox takes a modern approach to '40s glamour. She loosens up Rita Hayworth waves and keeps her makeup soft and peachy.
6. A middle part can be sexy—with the right hairstyle.
A center part with stick-straight hair can conjure up visions of grade-school picture day, but Fox pulls it off with grown-up undulating waves and not a hint of school girlishness.
7. Sometimes it's sexier when you don't smile.
The secret to an air of mystery? A subtle smirk—it's one of Fox's trademark photo-op looks that takes no time at all to perfect.
8. Don't be afraid to emphasize your brows.
Even with very little makeup, Fox's eyes stand out because of her well-shaped, subtly filled-in brows. Makeup artist Dick Page recommends filling brows with a waxy cream eye shadow: "These products glisten like hairs and give the brows a healthy sheen," says Page. Our favorites are Chanel Précision Brow Definer and L'Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Custom Brow Shaping Pencil.
9. The hottest pose is the over-the-shoulder glance.
When you're a red-carpet fixture like Fox, you learn how to work the camera. A three-quarter profile pose is coy, sure, but it also happens to emphasize cheekbones—and who couldn't use a lift like that?
10. If your dress is bold, you hair and makeup should be the opposite.
When it comes to standing out at a formal event, Fox knows that a bold-colored dress is the way to go. She also knows that in order to let the dress do the talking, her hair and makeup should stay natural and muted. We like Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow palette in Not Just Nudes for eyes, Bobbi Brown blush in Tawny for cheeks, and Shiseido Makeup Perfect Rouge in Spiced Cream (BE109) for lips.
11. Give yourself a break sometimes.
Some stars really are just like us. Fox knows there's no need to be fully coiffed to hit the grocery store, and it's so refreshing to see her in minimal makeup and a ponytail.
